A lone woman moves towards a heavily fortified high wall. We hear the sound of aircraft landing. She is holding her small child. More and more women arrive. She is caught up in the swell of the crowd. Waves of women break on the wall and are then forced back. The child slowly drifts away alone on the sea of bodies.

 

A large-scale new opera work that integrates dance, music and text drawing on the testimonies of women and girls who have fled conflict zones and oppression.

 

What happens when the mission is over? What happens to those who are taken? What happens to those left behind?
